5 from Hay

Paper Porcelain

It’s time for fall news 2014 and there are a lot of great news about the hit the stores. I have picked 5 favorites from Hay’s accessory line. I especially like the service in porcelain (above) that looks like coarse paper. The collection is made by Scholten & Baijing who created the service for an exhibition. Now, the paper model has been realized in a specially developed porcelain material that lets the tiny iron specks in the porcelain show, in imitation of the matt and tactile quality of recycled paper. The series includes an espresso cup, a coffee cup, a mug and a tea plate.

Colour Tray

Another product from Scholten & Baijings is Colour Tray that combines the hardness of bamboo and the natural ornamentation of the grain with an iconic fluorescent touch on edges and surfaces. The Tray comes in three versions.

Cord Hanger Fade yellow

Cord hanger has hardwearing and colourful polyester string wrapped around a metal hanger to add a little friction to a practical everyday item. I like the soft colors.

Lup Wall

Lup Wall is the classic candle holder transformed into a physical line drawing in black painted metal or copper wire. It has a playful narrative character and blend into the existing family of Lup candle holders.

I love clocks! This Analog clock is inspired by the classic barometer. Designer Shane Schneck has made watch that are three-dimensional rather than flat and is a tribute to an old school analog watch as a contrast to our digital world.

Royal break fast

Over the years I have come to love Royal Copenhagen more and more and the way I decorate my home today makes room for much more classic and refined design. My grand father and aunt have worked at the royal factories for decades where my grand father made the moldes for many of the designs. Therefore the design icons have always been in my home – more or less. As many other I love the blue fluted series, but just as much the blue and black fluted mega which I think is a well done modernization of the traditional design. I have pieces of both and like to mix it on the table.

The blue fluted series reminds me of weekend and pleasure and I think you can set a beautiful break fast or brunch table with the fine porcain. For me that’s Sunday morning when it’s best! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!

Set the table

For way too long most flatware has been in either chrome or brushed steel, and I have not thought much about this. However your knife, spoon and fork plays an important part on the dinner table and I’m so glad to have discovered that it’s actually possible to get your flatware in other looks than steel. I’m a big fan of this Almoco Flatware that comes in black, copper, gold and silver. The black version is on my wish list and I hope to see more colored flatware in the future!
